Microneedling

in Phoenix, AZ

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that stimulates collagen production and encourages your body to heal itself. This process tightens skin and rejuvenates your appearance by using your body’s own natural processes.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, is a new and revolutionary concept and treatment that is aimed at stimulating the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin in order to lift, tighten, and rejuvenate the skin. This can help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, decrease pore size, improve both surgical and acne scars, and leave the skin feeling and looking smooth and tight.

Am I a Candidate for Microneedling?

Healthy individuals who are looking for an effective treatment to improve the look and feel of the skin can often benefit from microneedling treatments. However, this treatment may not be suitable for people who are pregnant, those with bleeding or clotting disorders, those who take blood thinning medication, or those with active skin conditions in the treatment area. Please give our office a call today to schedule your consultation appointment to learn if this treatment is right for you.

The Microneedling Procedure

To begin microneedling treatment, your skin will be cleansed and a topical numbing cream will be applied to help reduce any discomfort. Using a specialty handpiece that controls the depth of penetration, thousands of micro-perforations are made within the dermis of the skin. Each of these microscopic holes activates a cascade of tissue regeneration, collagen formation, and a favorable, predictable wound healing process. In addition, the creation of thousands of micro-pores in the skin allows for better delivery of stem cells, growth factors, cosmeceuticals, and other revitalizing bioactive treatments.

Microneedling Recovery

Following your microneeding treatment, you may experience mild redness, bruising, and swelling for a few days. The skin may also feel tight and flake while it heals. Our team will supply you with specific aftercare instructions to ensure safe and quick healing and optimal results. Overall, it may take a few days or weeks to fully heal, depending on the depth of your treatment.

Microneedling Frequently Asked Questions

What is microneedling?

Microneedling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy) is a non-surgical, minimally invasive procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. The needles are used to puncture the skin and cause controlled skin injury. This then triggers the body to repair itself, producing new collagen and elastin, improving the skin quality.

What skin conditions do microneedling treat?

Microneedling can be used to treat a variety of skin-related conditions including:

  • Wrinkles & Fine Lines
  • Rough skin
  • Post-surgical scars, trauma scars, acne scars
  • Photo-damage

Is microneedling painful?

Microneedling is mildly uncomfortable, but the pain is managed and prevented using a topical numbing medication prior to treatment.

How many treatments are necessary?

Most patients require several microneedling treatments over the course of a several-month period in order to achieve optimal results.

What is the recovery like?

Among the many benefits of microneedling compared to other collagen-stimulating therapies is the short recovery time. Depending on the treatment type and depth of the needles used, recovery ranges from slight redness of the skin for a day or two to mild swelling and pinpoint crusting at the needle points. The skin will also feel tight and will be sensitive to sunlight (sunblock is necessary during the healing process).
